Objective: understanding representing a ratio in fraction form and converting it to decimal and percentage form.
Material:
· lab sheet
· 6 small boxes of Smarties.
Start with a little review about fractions and how to convert that to decimal
Then show an example of how to convert decimals to percentage. Ask the students to solve them with the teacher.
Divide the class to groups and hand out lab materials
Give instructions on how to do the lab
Walk around the class, and watch how the groups do
Wrap up the class with a little discussion about percentage. Where do we find them, who we use them, why do we need to learn them? What do we need to know about them?
